VISIT TO KIEV STRENGTHENED COOPERATION BETWEEN TWO CITIES

A delegation from the Capital City Podgorica, Podgorica, led by Deputy Mayor Caslav Vesovic, paid an official visit to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.

The visit was a great opportunity to exchange experiences with Kiev officials regarding urban development models and to establish bases for future co-operation between Podgorica and Kiev.

On the first day of the visit, a meeting of the delegation with the highest representatives of the city district Svetošinski was organized. Representatives of the two cities jointly assessed that there is a large space for improving cooperation, and exchanged views on potential areas and models. Also, a tree of friendship was planted in the yard of the administrative building of the Svetošinski district, as a symbol of cooperation between the capitals of Montenegro and Ukraine.

The most important segment of the visit is the signing of the Agreement on the establishment of friendly relations between the two cities. The agreement was signed by the Deputy Mayor of the Capital City Podgorica, Caslav Vesovic, and the Deputy Mayor of Kiev, Oleksiy Kuleba. On that occasion, Vesovic expressed the interest of the Capital City Podgorica for the development and improvement of cooperation in the economic, tourist and cultural segment. In the context of political events and circumstances, he made an analogy with the situation in Ukraine, noting similarities in terms of certain regional and global pretensions that both countries face, with the expressed expectation and hope that they will successfully cope with the given challenges.

During the visit, City manager Marjan Juncaj participated, as a panelist, in the Kiev Investment Forum, whose focus was on creating incentives and smart solutions for city development in the post-pandemic period. The city manager presented the ideas and platforms that the city administration inaugurated in the direction of overcoming the consequences of the public health crisis, with an emphasis on the plan for the development of city business zones as one of the backbones of the future development of Podgorica.

On the sidelines of the Kiev Investment Forum, Deputy Mayor Vesovic spoke with Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko. On this occasion, messages of friendship were sent and an invitation was sent to the first man of the Ukrainian Capital City to visit Podgorica in the coming period.
