COUNCIL FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT ON THE TERRITORY OF THE CAPITAL CITY PODGORICA HELD ITS 5TH SESSION

The fifth session of the Council for the Improvement of the Business Environment on the Territory of the Capital City Podgorica, chaired by Deputy Mayor Caslav Vesovic, was held on July 7, 2021.

Vesovic expressed great satisfaction with the very successful cooperation between the Capital City Podgorica and the business community so far, which is characterized by concrete steps and activities when it comes to improving the business environment in Podgorica.

At today’s session, new members of the Council were elected, information was announced on the extension of the deadline for submitting applications to the Public Call for Business Zone Users in the Capital City, another form of support for the Capital’s best business ideas through the START UP competition was announced.

Instead of Mr Jaka Hrastink, former executive director of Petrol Crna Gora MNE d.o.o., Tadej Zorjan, the current executive director of the mentioned company, was appointed. In addition, the members of the Council became:

1. Predrag Mitrović, Union of Employers of Montenegro;

2. Tarik Zaimović, ICT cluster Cortex;

3. Irena Radović, PhD Investment and Development Fund of Montenegro;

4. Luka Mišović, company “13. Jul Plantaže ”;

5. Nevena Jovović, Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism;

6. Ljiljana Belada, Ministry of Economic Development.

The manager of the Capital City Podgorica, Marjan Junčaj, spoke about the extension of the deadline for submitting applications to the Public Call for the selection of users of business zones and the allocation of plots for the construction of facilities in business zones until August 2. On that occasion, he announced a possible extension for an additional 15 days due to the great interest of domestic, regional and global investors. He reminded of the development and investment potentials of Podgorica, emphasizing that the infrastructural equipped locations, the proximity of the airport, railway, and the existence of other important facilities in the area, make the offered locations extremely attractive for investment.

“All plots are intended for lease, but not all are intended for purchase,” said the deputy mayor, emphasizing that in case there is interest in the same plot for both lease and purchase, the lease offer will have priority.

The manager of the Capital City Podgorica presented the criteria for scoring offers and additional incentives for investors. He emphasized that the management of the Capital City strives to create a favorable business environment for everyone, and that he wants to encourage beginners in business, to support young people and all those who are at the beginning of their career.

Accordingly, in addition to numerous realized support competitions, the Capital City has set aside 30,000 Euros in grants for the Start-up competition. The best business ideas will be awarded and presented on City Television.

Within the item “Current issues”, the representative of the ICT cluster Cortex, Tarik Zaimović, introduced the participants to the importance of technology in the business world, and possible joint activities that will contribute to the presentation of Podgorica as an attractive location for IT investors.
