Smart City is a concept that offers easier resource management in the future using the latest technology sensors. Consequently, attracting technologies of the latest trends, but also human resources of all necessary capacities for the planned ambitious growth of the Capital City of Podgorica, will be a precondition for enviable growth on the European and global map.

Out of about 235,000 registered vehicles in Montenegro, last year, according to UNDP data, there were 126 electric cars, and Podgorica is recently the first city in the region to have a taxi service that provides citizen transport services with Tesla electric vehicles. These vehicles, otherwise recognized as the cars of the future, could significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, one-fifth of which are produced by the transport sector.

In accordance with that, we are working on strengthening the existing infrastructure, so that all citizens of Podgorica, as well as its visitors, can use their electric cars on the territory of our city. The capital, within the project Development of Low Carbon Tourism, through the partnership of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, has already set up a public filling station at the intersection of Njegoseva and Vucedolska streets, and soon Podgorica gets another public filling station in the garage behind restaurant Masa, as well as at the gas station Petrol near the Krivi most Bridge.

There is a large number of E-charging stations set up by other entities, so the network of charging stations on the territory of the Capital currently has about 10 locations:

• Hilton Podgorica Montenegro (Bulevar Svetog Petra Cetinjskog)
• The intersection of Njegoševa and Vučedolska streets (* public filling station)
• Parking Garage behind Maša (* public filling station)
• Petrol – Krivi most bridge (in operation at the end of January 2020)
• Renault Alliance
• Tesla Club Mne (Cetinjski put and Bulevar Josipa Sladea)
• Center Ville Hotel (Cetinjski put)
• Faculty of Mechanical Engineering UCG (test filling station).
