On May 26, 2022, a meeting was held at the initiative of representatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which was attended by the head of the IFC office in Montenegro, Lada Buševac, the regional manager, Bodin Bulatović, and the operational officer, Olena Chernyshova, while in front of the Capital City Podgorica were present the manager of the Capital City Podgorica, Marjan Junčaj, Head of the Department for Transport, Lazarela Kalezić and Head of the budget office in the Department for Finance, Vjera Medojević.
The goal of the meeting was primarily to introduce the new IFC team to the city administration, as well as the existing and planned projects of the Capital City Podgorica in the direction of developing sustainable urban mobility and in this sense to conceive a more complete picture of potential areas of action. The meeting discussed the possibility of financing the purchase of new buses in the amount of EUR 4,000,000.00, with the aim of modernizing public transportation, as well as other projects that are important for the development of Podgorica.
The representatives of the IFC were briefly presented with the previous cooperation with the previous team, they were introduced to the data that the Capital City Podgorica continuously provided in the direction of the best possible presentation of the city’s potential both in relation to the planned strategic goals and projects and in the direction of financial indicators that indicate financial stability city administration. In addition, they were introduced to the existing and planned way of organizing and improving city transport, the need to improve other forms of mobility of citizens in the city, solving the problem of lack of parking space, as well as traffic jams, especially in the inner city core.
At the meeting, it was agreed that in the upcoming period, several meetings will be held in the narrower professional team, in order to further specify the needs and requirements of the Capital City Podgorica and, in relation to that, to conceive the appropriate form of IFC’s support.
